Let's remember that Puerto Rico was a port. Many varying and different people lived and passed through the island. To become obsessed or prideful for one of our many identities is to disregard who we are. Morena/o, trigueña/o, blanca/o es como te describen. Pero digo que eres mucho-mucho mas, en vez de solo ser un tipo de color. Even this image does not do who we are justice.

I would like to share with you all one of my favorite poems featured in our documentary Boricua en El Medio

"I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back.
I am not European. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there."
